ICO leaders collaborate with our partners—the people who know the youth best. Insights into their experiences, interests, and abilities enables the ICO volunteer to match each outing’s route and activities to be most beneficial to participants.
Partners assist ICO by distributing advance notice of the outing plan and collecting the required parental permission for each participant.
We accomplish a lot together
At least one representative of an organization accompanies youth on each outing. The ICO leader plans the day’s itinerary—based on knowledge of and experience with trails and their characteristics.
In advance, the leader assures trail conditions and weather, and arranges for transportation. ICO provides, water and food (lunch and snacks) plus a loaner backpack. As a team, ICO and the agency create an unforgettable outdoor experiences for the children and young adults.
